$1 Brings 1 Home FOUNDnation

Dear Friends and Volunteers for GINA,

As you can imagine it has been difficult for many nonprofit organizations to keep their doors open. We are no exception. It is a challenging economic time, but imagine if you lost your job you have a family to feed and one of your children disappears. Without funds and connections it is difficult to gain attention for a missing person who\'s story has no scandal. That is where we all come in creating the Squeaky Wheel every year. No matter what the economic challenge it seems completely contrary to abandon those families because it\'s rough for me and rough for GINA. Thus, we have the following fundraising plan in place. If you have ideas or would like to get involved please let us know.

FUND RAISING PLAN for the Squeaky Wheel Tour 2009: We are asking for one dollar from every person we meet until the October 16, 2009 KICK OFF. We are asking 150,000 different people for one dollar to reach our tour goals this year. It is quite expensive to do what we are doing and even that is at a HUGE discount with so many volunteers, sponsors and organizations partnering to help us keep our costs down. We have several restaurants and beauty salon\'s, churches and schools helping us throughout the country...We have only just begun our journey and the results are letting us know that we are on the right track. We have asked 91 people for $1 so far and we have raised $736. dollars. It\'s ON!

A sincere thanks for your amazing hearts in this matter....love, Jannel
PS. Check out our blog. There is more info about how you can get involved.

Former Curb Records Artist Amy Dalley Takes on Major Labels with Her Own Independent Release, "It`s Time"

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(Business Wire)--
Following up four Top 40 singles and a hit video, Amy Dalley has taken a new approach by releasing her new album, \"It`s Time\", on her own label, Mad Jack Records. This reflects an ongoing trend in the music industry where more andmore artists [Toby Keith, Tracey Lawrence] are shying away from major labels in favor of their own independent releases.
\"It`s Time,\" Amy`s freshmen effort, was five years in the making and plays more like that of a seasoned artist. While penning a series of songs that were recorded by established artists such as Martina McBride, Joe Dee Messina, Reba McEntire, and others, she had already begun writing the songs that would become her debut album.
Amy began her career as a teenager performing around her hometown of Kingsport, TN. She seized an opportunity to write for a Nashville Publisher in the mid nineties and moved to Music City. Over the next few years, she worked her way up through the ranks of Music Row, culminating in a recording and publishing deal with Curb. After several false starts, Amy signed with the independent publisher, Carlin America, and made the decision to put out her own record.
\"It`s Time\" reflects Dalley`s unique approach to songwriting. She reveals a sarcastic and fun side with \"Men Don`t Change,\" as well as the thought provoking, \"Let`s Try Goodbye,\" which elegantly captures the moment in a relationship where the only resolve is to let go.
The album runs the gamut, from campy to insightful; self empowering to compassionate. Listeners can anticipate a mix of commercial country music crafted with Dalley`s signature emotion and openness. \"It`s Time\" offers a candid look at life through the eyes of an artist whose time has come.
Available at CD Baby and all major digital download sites Jan. 19th, 2009.

SONGWRITING CLASSES STARTING June 16

SONGWRITING CLASSES STARTING!

Tuesdays, starting June 16, 7:30-10 PM (recommended for returning Tuesday students) (10 weeks)

Thursdays, starting June 18, 7-10 PM (for ten weeks)

Learn this highly acclaimed step-by-step method of getting to the next level in your songwriting.

Harriet Schock is a renowned teacher of songwriting as well as a consultant to songwriters all over the world. She teaches a step-by-step method that enables songwriters to become remarkable at writing songs -- songs that touch people emotionally. And Harriet doesn\'t simply coach a student through the writing of one song. She teaches a technique that students can use now and in the future to make every single song the very best it can be. Every muscle of songwriting gets exercised. The ten-week course consists of lessons, which create a solid foundation for writing songs effortlessly. Problems such as beginning a song and not knowing how to finish it, unclear or illogical lyrics, lack of response from listeners, weak melody, less than compelling harmony, and other difficulties, such as writer’s block, that can plague songwriters seem to vanish when a writer uses the system taught in Harriet\'s course. Harriet has taught classes for USC, the Songwriters Guild of America, and Nashville Songwriters Association International.

Harriet Schock is a gold and platinum songwriter/recording artist whose songs have been recorded by numerous artists, nominated for a Grammy and used in films. Her fourth, fifth and sixth solo CDs, \"American Romance,\" \"Rosebud\" and \"Harriet Schock Live\" are in current release, as well as her book, BECOMING REMARKABLE: For Songwriters and Those Who Love Songs, published by Blue Dolphin. Harriet’s upcoming CD “Breakdown On Memory Lane” will be released this year. She wrote all the music for Henry Jaglom\'s film, \" Going Shopping\" and scored his, \"Hollywood Dreams .\" On June 19th, the Jaglom film, “Irene In Time” will be released for which Harriet wrote four songs and performs them with her band on camera.  Jeannie Kendall recorded two of Harriet’s songs, one of which (\"You Just Don\'t Get Me, Do You?\") was nominated for AC/Hot AC Single of the Year by New Music Weekly magazine in 2006. She also co-wrote the theme song for the multi Emmy-award winning series, “Jakers!” As well as performing worldwide, Harriet Schock speaks, teaches and consults in person and via the Internet. She teaches an in-person 10-week class and a correspondence course in songwriting to writers all over the world. She is also available for private consultation.  For further information about her book, CDs, concerts, online courses, classes or consultation, go to http://harrietschock.com, or call (323) 934-5691.

Recent testimonials:

“Harriet’s songwriting workshop was a godsend! As a beginning songwriter, creating good songs on my own was always hit or miss -- and mostly the latter. Once I began her 10-week journey, a remarkable transformation began. Right away, she had us dive headfirst into the process, and week-by-week she challenged us to go deeper and deeper below the surface of our idea, until eventually we were staring at a wealth of buried treasure. It was incredible to see how easily my song came together afterward, with far more depth and richness than before. I am truly amazed and very grateful!

“Harriet is a master songwriter herself and a true pioneer in the art of teaching songwriting. One of the best parts about her workshop is the warm, safe environment she creates in which to share your work. She has the rare ability to give you sound guidance on technique while always nurturing your true artist within. Taking her course was the best gift I could have ever given my creative self”!

-Karla Weller

\"Harriet’s step-by-step approach to songwriting has revealed to me a talent I never knew I had. Instead of being intimidating or overwhelming, the idea of writing original songs has now become an incredible opportunity to express myself in a whole new way.”
-Robert Leeburg ( Documentary Filmmaker and Writer, Singer)

“I love Harriet Schock’s songwriting class.  It’s what I most look forward to every week.  There are always wonderfully talented people there, and Harriet has a way of guiding you through her remarkable “steps” so you’re guaranteed to end up with a song you’re proud of and that people will understand and want to hear again.  My new CD, “ A Place in the Sun,” is almost entirely songs I wrote in her class. “

- Tracy Newman (Co-creator of the ABC/TV comedy series, “According to Jim”)

“A first class songwriter and a first class person. Harriet’s workshops offer me a positive setting to flail around for ideas as she (and the round table of excellent students) gently guide me towards the direction I’d been meaning to go all along. Some of my best and most requested songs have been written in a Harriet Schock workshop. Invaluable to songwriters of every level, her system will take you deeper into the soul of your songs, and her inspiration will make you want to rewrite, perhaps the most common block to any songwriter.”

- Bill Berry

  “

“I have taken Harriet’s class numerous times and I’m still learning more about this craft. Harriet is dedicated to the success of each song and can suggest improvements. In the class setting, each student’s project gets lots of attention and valuable feedback. One of the skills I’m learning is the ability to find the truth in the stories I tell, and to be able to communicate that clearly to the audience!”

Michelle Krell Malone

“I have been playing music for over 20 years. But now I am finally learning the art of songwriting.”
Ned Barrett

“I loved Harriet’s class! She taught me the discipline I needed to shape my stories and song “pieces” into completed songs. I will be taking this course again to see where else it can take mea s a writer.”

Traci Larsen

“I have really expanded my melody writing. I used to be limited to writing in one genre and as a result of studying with Harriet, my melodies have improved greatly. I\'ve learned a lot about the rhythm of the melody, prosody, etc. Now my lyrics ride smoothly on really good melodies and collaborators are consulting me to write melodies for them. How cool is that? Take Harriet\'s class. It exercises every muscle of songwriting in an environment that is supportive, challenging and fun with an amazing group of writers.”

- Andrea Ross-Greene

Take advantage of the class at the discounted price of $345. If you do not already own Harriet Schock’s book/CD package \"Becoming Remarkable/Rosebud\" you will be required to purchase it at the first class or from Amazon.com.

Space is limited. Call Harriet at (323) 934-5691 to reserve your place and get directions. MC, Visa accepted.
